My Useless Opinions - Not Responding to Messages

So what can I say... I'm AMAZING at following schedules... yeah... The schedule obviously didn't work so now I need to rethink it. One of my issues is finding material to write about. So while I struggle with this, I'm just gonna try to post once a week at least. Any help on ideas for things to write about would be greatly appreciated, just shoot me a comment here, or send me a FB message, or etc. Anyways, I'm not gonna ramble on about my lack of any work ethic forever.

I wanna talk about not responding to messages. It's the worst feeling when you see people have "seen" your message and just don't respond. Granted I'm not perfect at this but I try not leave messages unanswered, especially when I know the person knows I saw it. The feeling that you get when someone see your message and it visibly says "seen" is one of the worst.

What do I mean by seen messages. For iPhones this mean the other person opens the text message. On messaging apps like Kik, it is the little "R" that shows the message has been read. On Facebook it's the notification that tells you the message is read. The only messaging service I can think of that doesn't tell you when a message is read or not is Android text messages.

Now I get it, people have lives, sometimes there's a person you just don't want to talk to at the time. Anyone can have their reasons for not wanting to talk to someone. But if you are going to open the message, it is a nice thing to respond with something. And if you really can't talk, or you just don't want to talk just say something like "I'm busy" or "can't talk right now" or even a short one word "busy" would be enough. If you have enough time to open the message, you have enough time to respond. If you are just avoiding the person then don't open the message. Maybe the take the hint maybe they won't, but at least they don't have to feel like shit know someone that someone just isn't responding to them. Just something to think about.

So if you want to send me an idea or just want to voice your opinion on this subject, then comment or send me a message. I am open to all kinds of feedback. Thanks for reading :D

Obstacles - Syd Matters | Life is Strange Game Review.

So yeah, that schedule thing worked perfectly..... yeah...

So I obviously fell short of that schedule thing so today I'm going to do a music post and review of a game that led me to discover that song. It's kinda like a double whammy of no one cares xD... you know they keep saying this phrase... I think it was something like "Confidence is king...". Yeah I'm failing miserably at that.

So the song Obstacles is by an indie band called Syd Matters. They are a French band with a very calming style of music. They feature a mixture of folk music and "melancholic pop" [as per Wikipedia (best source EVER)]. They combine acoustic instruments while holding true to some electronic roots. (Ok so I may have just paraphrased what I read on Wikipedia because I have absolutely no clue about this band, only that they have some awesome music. I'm sure there is a better source of info our there on this band anywhere else on the internet.)

The song itself features some great guitar as well as synth(?) in the intro. It is a very calming melody and definitely helps me think clearly sometimes. It is on my Chill Out playlist for that same reason. It is a  very serene song that just, I don't know, work some weird magic on you to relax you. It just works. The song is just a nice thing to listen to whenever.

The game Life is Strange is a choice-based game published by the company Square-Enix. A lot of gamers know Square-Enix for their involvement with Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Dragon Quest, all of which are RPGs (Role Playing Games). The game centers around a girl named Maxine Caufield who is going to a school in her hometown after leaving for a five year period. She discovers that she has the ability to reverse time to an extent and now she can manipulate the choices she makes which will affect different outcomes of the game. The game allows you to rethink the decisions you make but once you've made them, you're stuck with them. This is a concept that think is an amazing point for video games.

On of my big things about this game is that the developers (not the publishers) were very skeptical about picking up a publisher as many wanted to replace the female lead with a male lead. The fact that the developers (Dontnod Entertainment) kept their stance on having a female lead is admirable and in my opinion should be a standard in the industry. Anyways, they got picked up by Square-Enix with a female lead so props to Square-Enix, you know get to make a lot of money of an amazing game. My only issue with the game is that it is being released in an episodic style, meaning the game is split up and each "episode" is released after a short period in between. That's a personal dislike but it does make people want to wait for the next part and it also give people the chance to try out the first episode to see if they like it. Episode 2 should be released in March.

This game is rated M for mature by the ESRB. Just an FYI for those who are doing age checks.

That's all my opinions on this song and this game. Check them out if you're interested. Any feedback or thoughts about the content is always accepted.

Showing Up, Music, Life, My Useless Opinions, and A Schedule.

So... I haven't posted in what... a week... or two? But who's counting... I apologize but I was trying to organize my self as best I could and I was trying see what I wanted to post. Life just got the better of me. Anyways... time to post all the BS I think needs to be said.

Recently my friend has got me on an EDM kick. And I've really been digging this YouTube channel: Liquicity Drum & Bass. I would really recommend their 2014 Year Mix (what I've been jamming to recently) or just to explore what they have posted. It has this weird mix of being really hype and really chill at the same time. I am still a Pop Punk Kiddie (what I call myself when referring to my obsession with pop punk) so I probably won't stop posting about that but I thought my recent journey's through the world of EDM were worth noting.

Life's great. Ok not really but it isn't horrible so I have no footing to complain. C'est la vie. I'll get over it. But it has been getting kind of overwhelming. School, Lacrosse, Choir.... god my life is so hard (sarcasm intended). But on a positive note, our lacrosse team has done two things we have never done before in the four years the program has been running. 1) We have won 2 games in the season so far overall. That's a first :D. 2) We also won our first away game so we were allowed to talk on the bus ride home. It was a great time on that bus ride home. So yeah, my life doesn't suck.

Continuing on with life, I'm officially saying that I am bisexual. Not the I wanna screw everything with a pulse kind of bisexual, but more of the I don't really care because I can make relationships with anyone kind of bisexual. Granted I don't expect to get hate for this, but if it does happen, remember that I really don't care. It shouldn't really affect any of my daily life except possibly explain why I can act really gay around people and not care. Doesn't mean I want to have sex with everyone.

I feel like my opinions on things are useless. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't but I am gonna post them anyways. On what... I don't know yet. If you thought I meant now, then  I'm sorry, I meant in the future. It's kinda hard to come up with opinions on the spot and I honestly forgot what I was gonna write about in the first place. I probably should write ideas down when they come to me... Oh well, lessons for the future.

Finally, I've decided since posting everyday, I'd get overwhelmed and run out of ideas by March, that I am going to make a schedule that I may or may not follow... We'll see... Probably not but the thought is there. Anyways... I will try to post music posts on Tuesdays. Thursdays will be my kind of grab bag day. My useless opinions will be on Sundays. I may use Thursdays for life updates if anything comes up that I think is interesting or important. And I may post on other days.

That's really all I have to say. I'm hoping that people will still read this and I'm hoping that people wont judge me but hey... I'm posting this on the internet for people to read, I really shouldn't care what other people think of it anyways. That's just me but if we can't be ourselves in front of nobody, then how can we be ourselves in front of everybody. Catcha l8r :D

Stay - Mayday Parade

This song has been stuck in my head for like the past week. It has an amazing melody with great guitar and piano and drums. The intro is all piano and then it gets faster like a lot of these songs I like to listen too. This is one of the two songs I have listened to by Mayday parade but for what I have listened to, I love. Their music has some amazing qualities including lyrics and instrument parts.

In contrast to a lot of popular music this piece does not have a chorus. Instead the verse have a similar secondary part that changes with the quote made by each person in the relationship. The words depict a relationship from the mans point of view. It's just a catchy song that gets stuck in your head.

Weightless - All Time Low

This song is one of my favorites. It is the first song I had ever listened to by the band that is currently my favorite. It features their upbeat tempos as well as an excellent melody. It is very catchy and can quickly get stuck in your head (like that is a bad thing ^.^). All Time Low is know for their energetic melodies. Even the lyrics have some uplifting meaning.

The first time I heard this song was a cover by one of my favorite YouTube Vloggers: Patty Walters. He is a musician and he has his own band which is really cool (obviously having a fangirl moment right now). Anyways, I fell in love with the song through the cover and then I fell in love with the band through the song. I'm not writing off As It Is (Patty's band) because they are also amazing, but I think All Time Low got me into the whole Pop Punk scene I'm into right now.

For those of you who guessed it and are wanting clarification, yes the name of this blog is a pun of my name and All Time Low. If you are worrying about copyright issues, "Don't Panic" because it's not a direct quote of their band name so I should be fine. It is not currently a monetized blog anyways. For those who would have liked to see a different band name, it's "Nothing Personal" but All Time Low got my attention first. See what I did there... I used the album names... ugh I guess I'm the only one laughing at my own jokes. Yay for me....

She's Finding Me Out - The Friday Night Boys

This is a song that I really liked on my Pandora and I felt like it connected to me. This song starts with a slow piano intro and goes into the first verse. As the song progress, it adds guitar and drums. The beat picks up and it becomes a more upbeat song.

The lyrics in this song really struck home with my "need" to belong in a high school society and the need to find meaningful relationships. The words add a deep meaning to the song. It hits on some of the key points of "fitting in" in a school environment. It also covers the stupid things guys will do to try to get girls. The guy being too afraid to try and even talk to the girl. It describes the basics of shy teenage boys.

All in all, this song is really good. It's a song I will be listening to for a while and a song I will go to in my playlist to start for a while. It's a calming melody with meaningful words.

Emotion and Emotional Responses

So today was our first lacrosse game of the season. We didn't win like we wanted to and I was beating myself up over losing because I felt like I could have done more. I proceeded to take out my anger and my emotions on my friends and family. That lead to more emotional downhill spirals. Afterwards, I felt like a complete ass and honestly, I was one. It wasn't right, and it will never be right to take out your emotion on your peers or your family.

So why did I decide to write this and why does this matter? In all honesty, you can take this as a teenager complaining about his emotions and using his brand new blog as an outlet. Sure that's a fair point to it. I am just a teenager blowing off his feeling through a blog post. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to learn from it.

What does this blog post have anything to do with me? Everything. Everyone has their ups and their downs and no one is perfect. Take it from me, take it from anyone who has gone through this, it sucks to feel down. But the feeling afterwards of the people you've hurt with whatever you've said while you were mad, or sad, or frustrated, or just having that one shitty day will make you feel ten times worse. Or your just a sociopath who doesn't care about anyone else.

But all joking aside, take care of your emotions and your responses to those emotion. Don't hurt those who care about you because your day was bad. It's better to sit back and relax. Maybe pop on some of your favorite chill music. If you talk about it with someone then do it in a calm fashion. Don't just yell at your friends and family because you think it feels good. Because it will hurt a hell of a lot more afterwards.

My "Chill" Music

I'd like to thank my friend who gave me this idea to write something like this on my blog. The idea to write about "life" and "my thoughts." I won't name her because it's not my place to, but I'm hoping she reads this, and she knows that this post wouldn't have happened without her.

You're Call - Secondhand Serenade

This is a Song that I have liked for a while. Its a slower ballad, like most of the other songs by this artist (at least what I have heard), with a simple intro that is vamped through the song. As the song progresses it adds more instruments and the music gets a slightly faster beat behind it while keeping the same tempo.

To back away from the analytical side, this songs words have meaning. Whether you're single, in a relationship, or just getting out of one, the song can mean something to you. It's about love, wanting to love somebody. Loving someone so much that you need to tell them. It's something many people want and few people have. At least, that's my opinion, take it or leave it.

Intro...

Hi! I'm Dominic but most of my friends call me Dom. I'm a High School Student that decided to try something new. I've always found Vloggers interesting but the lack of a video camera has brought me to start blogging.

So I guess this is were I put something about my life. But that's why I started this blog. I don't know what I want, or what I'm going to get out of it, but then again, who does.

So about me, I'm an everyday high school student. I love playing video games, and I love punk music (though I'll listen to anything). I play goalie on my High School's Varsity Lacrosse team. I play Marching Baritone and Trombone in my school band. I chase after girls blindly like any of them actually like me. I act like a normal male teenager.

So then why am I different and why should you read my blog. That's up for you to decide. I may be exactly what you expect me to be and I may be an entirely new view on life for you. It's like my version of social media. I'll post what I want, when I want, and people may or may not see it. It's my place to post without feeling like I have to care if I'm judged.

Now I should probably tell you what I'm going to post. But I honestly am not 100% sure myself. I'm thinking I'm going to post music I'm listening to (it's main old pop punk so you'll probably know it already but meh), maybe some life updates, and I'll go from there. Maybe some game reviews or movie reviews but I don't know. That's up to me and I don't have to know.

So that's about it. The rest is yet to come...
